Sarnia Hotels & Motels
Located where the Great Lakes empty into the St. Clair River, Sarnia, Ontario, is the largest city on Lake Huron and happens to be on the Canadian/American border directly across from Port Huron, Michigan. Sarnia was the first place in North America to commercially drill for oil, and this, combined with its natural port, put it on the map. It has remained a major shipping route, to and from the United States as it links Ontario Highway 402 with US Interstates 94 and 69.
Outside of oil and shipping, Sarnia has served as a backdrop for some films, most notably Michael Moore’s Bowling For Columbine and Sicko. The mayor of Sarnia even wanted to make Moore an honourary citizen of Sarnia since Moore has spent so much time in the city.
Not all oil and movies, Sarnia offers visitors a number of different activities to enjoy for the entire family. Visitors to the area can experience both the cultural events of the city and the surrounding outdoor adventures, like equestrian tours and parachuting. The kids are sure to be in heaven with four waterparks plus the plethora of parks and beaches all found nearby.
Though not a huge city, Sarnia does have a variety of hotels and motels to suit the needs and preferences of each traveller.
